Event seating setup

Give an event its seating plan — floors and layout modes, the first-run choice, and applying a venue arrangement with zone mapping.

Seating setup (event sidebar, under Setup) is where an event gets its plan — either built from scratch or copied in from a venue arrangement. It's the authoring hub; the day-to-day live view is the Seating plan.

Starting from an arrangement

The fast path for venues you've drawn before:

Apply the arrangement

In Seating setup, choose Apply arrangement and pick one of the venue's layouts. The event receives a complete, independent copy.

Map zones to ticket types

The dialog lists the arrangement's zones and asks which of the event's ticket types each one sells — Front → "Standard (chairs)", Gallery → "Balcony". It warns about zones left unmapped; unmapped seats can't be sold until they get a type.

Done — review the plan

The copied plan opens for review. Adjust anything: this copy is the event's own.

Re-applying later replaces the event's plan — fine while nothing is sold; once seats are sold, the sold-seat protection keeps occupied seats safe.

Starting from scratch

No arrangement? The event first-run shows a single choice-card pair: is it one area (a single open space — the editor opens straight away) or multiple sections (you'll draw section outlines first, then detail each)? Your pick creates the event's first floor; you can add more floors and change a floor's mode later.

Floors

Add, rename, and delete floors to match the building: Main hall, Balcony, Foyer. Each floor has its own layout and shows as a tab for buyers. The live preview on the setup page mirrors what the public will see as you work.

From each floor you drill down: sections (drawn outlines on the floor, each opening the detailed seat editor) or directly into the one-area editor.

Seated ticket types come to life here: a seated type's capacity is simply how many seats on this plan carry it. Add seats → capacity rises; a sold-out type whose zone gains seats feeds its waitlist first.
