Lock Screen Live Activity
The automatic check-in Live Activity — a doors countdown that flips to live admission numbers on your Lock Screen and Dynamic Island, with the app closed.
The Live Activity is an iOS-only feature — it builds on the Lock Screen and Dynamic Island, which the Android app has no equivalent of.
On the night of an event, the check-in Live Activity puts the door on your Lock Screen — a glanceable countdown before doors that turns into live admission numbers once check-in starts. There's no button to press: it appears on its own, updates itself, and clears when the event is over, even with the app closed.
How it shows up
About an hour before doors, the activity appears automatically on the Lock Screen (and in the Dynamic Island) of everyone on the event — organization members and the per-event staff you've added. Nobody has to open the app or turn anything on; the server pushes it to each device.
It has two phases:
- Doors countdown — before doors open, a live countdown to the door time, so you can see at a glance how long until the gates.
- Live check-in — once check-in is genuinely underway, it flips to the admission view: how many people are inside out of the total, a progress bar and percentage, how many devices are scanning right now, and when the last scan happened.
The flip from countdown to live numbers happens when check-in is actually starting — a few scans in the last stretch before doors, or the moment the door time arrives. A single test scan an hour early won't flip it, so the countdown stays useful right up to the door.
Through the event and after
The activity stays live for the whole event — the numbers keep climbing as late arrivals are scanned in — and then ends on its own. If the event has an end time, it ends there; if it doesn't, it clears at 04:00 local time (and never sooner than four hours after doors), so it's gone from your Lock Screen by morning. Reschedule the event and the activity follows: push the doors later and it steps back; move the event to another day and it reappears at the right time.
Good to know
- It's push-driven, so it keeps updating even when the app is closed or your phone is locked — it just needs a network connection.
- Every organizer sees it on their own device; there's nothing to share or hand around.
- Signing out of the app removes the activity and stops it on that device.
- It needs iOS 17.2 or later and Live Activities enabled for Bookitive in Settings (on by default). On older phones, open the app to watch the same live stats on the Overview or Scanner screen.
