Ticket design
Replace the built-in PDF ticket with your own design — upload a PDF, place the dynamic fields, and preview the real render.
By default Bookitive renders a clean built-in PDF ticket. Ticket design (in the event sidebar under Setup) replaces it with your own: your designer's artwork as the background, Bookitive's dynamic fields placed exactly where you want them.
How it works
Upload your design
Upload a single-ticket PDF (up to 10 MB; the first page is used). The page size of your PDF becomes the ticket size — design at the exact dimensions you want printed, whether that's A5 landscape or a slim wristband stub.
Place the dynamic fields
Drag fields from the palette onto the design: QR code, ticket code, event name, date & time, venue, ticket type, attendee name, seat, price, organizer, and order reference. Each field has an inspector for size, alignment, weight, color, and rotation — angled codes on a side stub work fine.
Preview the real thing
Preview PDF renders a sample ticket server-side — the exact engine that will produce every real ticket, so what you see is the ground truth, not a browser approximation.
Save
Save the layout and every ticket generated from that moment on — email attachments, downloads from ticket pages, box-office prints — uses your design.
Managing the template
- Replace PDF — swap the artwork and keep the field layout; fields stay where they were, so a color-tweaked design doesn't mean re-placing everything.
- Delete template — reverts the event to the built-in layout.
- The editor guards against navigation with unsaved changes.
Behaviour and edge cases
- Already-delivered tickets don't regenerate. PDFs are rendered at download/send time, so a design change affects every ticket rendered after the save — including re-downloads of older tickets.
- Leave room for the attendee name and seat if the event uses them — fields render with the alignment you chose, but a 40-character name in a tight box will shrink or clip. The preview uses realistic sample values; believe it.
- One template per event. Different designs for different ticket types aren't supported — differentiate with the ticket type field instead.
- Tickets are tiled onto A4 for printing. When a ticket is small enough to fit, Bookitive lays several at their native size onto A4 portrait pages with dashed cut guides, so a multi-ticket order prints on as few sheets as possible. A design too large to fit on A4 falls back to one native-size page per ticket.
